Who is eligible?

• You are at least 25 years old at time of enrollment AND you are no older than 55 years on January 1 of the year in which you enroll.
• If you exceed age 55 while in progress, you will remain eligible, as long as other requirements are met.  
• You do not already have a college degree.  You still qualify if you have earned a certificate, microcredential, or some college credit.
• You must be a NYS resident of either �첥��Ƶ or Cortland Counties, or a New York State resident with a valid certificate of residence on file.
• You must enroll into one of the designated programs (listed below).
• You must apply for FAFSA and TAP/NYS DREAM Act to be eligible for this degree.

What does “free” mean? 

The SUNY Reconnect program covers the cost of tuition, fees, books, and supplies after all other financial aid is applied. It does not cover housing.

Maintaining Eligibility Status

Take these steps to ensure you remain eligible for free community college through SUNY ReConnect:

• Take a minimum of six credits per semester
• Complete your associate degree within 10 semesters
• Remain in an eligible degree program
• Follow all NYS state requirements for repeat coursework
• Maintain satisfactory academic progress at TC3
• Renew your certificate of residence annually while enrolled (if applicable)
