Exploring Ireland Through History and Art
This collaborative history/art course offers students an immersive experience in Ireland, blending creative expression with cultural exploration. Students will learn digital photography and capture images across Ireland to accompany personal chapters in a class-produced, self-published book.
Together, we鈥檒l engage in lectures, hands-on projects, and on-the-ground discovery鈥攆rom the music of Dublin and the sea air of Galway to the ancient light of Newgrange and stained glass of St. Patrick鈥檚 Cathedral. Students will feel the mist in the hills, touch castle ruins, taste Irish stew, and gaze from the Cliffs of Moher.
快播视频 to all college-eligible students, the course celebrates diverse perspectives and emphasizes learning through all five senses.

What to expect in Ireland
Varied environment, such as鈥
- Dublin 鈥 city
- Carlingford, Galway 鈥 more town-like
- Sligo - Rural
- We walk a lot on cobblestones, and in rural settings
- We are outdoors often
- It rains often but is 40 degrees or warmer
- Lots of rainbows
- Students with significant mobility issues will struggle
- We move as a group so group dynamics are important for collaboration, friendship and safety
- Students share rooms
- Most of the trip is in rural, lower density places.
How LGBTQ+ friendly is Ireland?
Very friendly and accepting of every kind of person we have had on all our trips including race, age, weight and identity.
How is the experience for students with mobility or learning issues?
- Learning issues may be accommodated after assessment from our interview.
- Mobility issues will make it very difficult for students because so much of seeing Ireland involves walking, sometimes miles a day and many Irish buildings do not meet standard ADA compliance requirements.
